Pilot-ATC Interaction Day

The AOOA and GATCOZ (Guild of Air Traffic Controllers of Zambia) held an interaction day last Friday (12.11.2021) where members of the two associations had the opportunity to meet and interact with one another. GATCOZ showed the AOOA members their facilities at the airport including Tower, Approach/Radar, Area Control and Search and Rescue. The AOOA then hosted GATCOZ members for lunch and later took 27 controllers up for flights around the circuit in several different aircraft.

A very big thank you to our sponsors Proflight and Procharter for hosting lunch and providing soft drinks as well as for the use of their Cessna Caravan C208 for the circuit flights. Thanks also to Fringilla for providing the tasty boerewors rolls and to Mr. Woodley for expertly cooking them! Finally, thank you to all the pilots and owners for supporting the event and to GATCOZ for their hospitality.

It was a very successful event and everyone had great fun while sharing experiences and understanding better how we can all contribute to keeping Zambia’s skies safe. We look forward to the next one!
