AIC SERIES A 008/2023 Update

Good day AOOA members. Our EXCO Secretariat met twice with ZCAA on 10/11 January 2024 to discuss AIC SERIES A 008/2023 and its implications on the aviation industry.

All were in agreement with the AIC in principle, and it was noted that there has been little or no change in effect with regards to aircraft in the Public Category (although BAR is also examining this independently). The AOOA also spoke specifically on behalf of our members with aircraft in the Private category who presently operate aircraft on foreign registrations.

The CAA confirmed that all foreign registered aircraft must be imported if the owner is normally resident in Zambia, but acknowledged that due notice and enough time is essential for bona fide owners to comply with the requirements.

Owners are therefore encouraged to write to the CAA to request a 180 day exemption in order to complete the process. As such the AOOA encourages its members to be proactive to avoid being inconvenienced.

Feel free to contact our ExCo for further advice if required.
